King’s Leadership Academy Hawthornes

Laura Crellin – Teaching Assistant

Initial Teacher Training Graduate.

I chose school centre ITT, because the team were really enthusiastic about my special educational needs degree, the training I had, and the work experience I had in the SEND sector.

I have been fully supported during my training, my mentors have always been available and have supported me continuously, with nothing they weren’t willing or able to provide. This support has meant that my training has run smoothly throughout.

I have enjoyed working with a variety of expert educators and being made to feel like part of the team throughout all my placements. Additionally, another highlight has been the students themselves; being involved in their learning experience and getting to facilitate, support and watch them grow throughout my placements has been wonderful.

I would wholeheartedly recommend the school-centred ITT route. The support I have been given throughout has been amazing.

King’s Leadership Phoenix Academy

Keiran Moran – Pastoral Manager

NPQ Behaviour & Culture.

NPQ Behaviour & Culture. Keiran Morgan decided to embark upon the NPQBC (Behaviour & Culture) to find out more about the research into behaviour and culture and how he can apply his learning to his role as Pastoral Manager at King’s Leadership Phoenix Academy.

Keiran has worked in pastoral roles for many years and has a great deal of practical experience, but is seeking to enhance his theoretical knowledge and achieve a formal pastoral qualification. The NPQBC aims to support staff by setting a culture of high expectations, enabling good behaviour, and supporting pupil wellbeing.

Of his experience so far Keiran said: “I am already benefitting from by NPQBC course as I can immediately implement strategies and lessons learnt on the course when I am back in school at King’s Phoenix. I am able to adapt to what I have learnt to individual pupil needs, whilst ensuring I maintain high expectations.
